Creating jewelry and crafts have been a large part of Native American tribes for centuries. It is no different for the Dine People. My family has always been in the crafting business for as long as I can remember. My Great Grandmother pictured below is a rug weaver and wove rugs for years at the Grand Canyon watch tower for tourist. She supported 14 children by mastering her trade in rug weaving.

After meeting my Grandfather in the early 1960's my grandma had 5 children. While my grandfather worked out on the reservations my grandmother learned to do beadwork and would sell her items along the roadside to traveling tourist along  Highway 89 in Cameron, AZ.
